  1. I *may* have been served a gag order or am otherwise required by
  2. law not to disclose something if *any* of the following is true:
  3. * the signature on this file is invalid or missing
  4. * this file is missing or inaccessible
  5. * this file has not been updated in over a month
  6. Keep in mind that there could be other reasons for this canary
  7. to not be updated. For example, technical difficulties may
  8. prevent me from updating this website. If the canary is missing
  9. or is older than the most recent weblog entry, it's a pretty
  10. good sign that I am in distress and need help, but if the site
  11. is down or has not been updated, there is a chance that I am
  12. just fine.
  13. My PGP key ID is 0xE7464A03 and my PGP fingerprint is

  15. As of today, <?php echo date('l, Y F d'); ?>,
  16. I have not been legally required to withhold information.
  17. University of the People has issued me a take-down request for
  18. some pages on this website, but I have not been asked to keep
  19. quiet about it.
  20. This file is what is known as a warrant canary. The USA PATRIOT
  21. Act allows the government to *defile the rights granted to us in
  22. the constitution* in certain ways, such as prohibiting the
  23. disclosure of the existence certain warrants and subpoenas. It
  24. is, however, legal to disclose whenever these things *have not*
  25. been served. As long as this file is up-to-date, it means that I
  26. am still legally allowed to speak freely. If this file has gone
  27. stale, it means that I am not able to disclose something that I
  28. really should be able to.
