todo to myself: i investigated this on x230 ages ago, got it working
it bricked on a t440p when i adapted the technique, but i'm sure my technique was correct - but for one detail: i now know that mrc.bin must be at a certain offset in the rom (as loaded into memory)
well, when making 16mb roms i reckon mrc.bin was just in the wrong place
we also have haswell with mrc.bin removed now (replaced with libre code from angels pons of coreboot)
anyway yeah, todo: re-investigate
couldn't find schematics yet for t440p so can't figure out 8+4 -> 1x16 easily, but 8+8MB flash ICs is totally doable
