  1. mandoc is a suite of tools compiling mdoc, the roff macro package of
  2. choice for BSD manual pages, and man, the predominant historical
  3. package for UNIX manuals. It is small, ISO C, ISC-licensed, and quite
  4. fast.
  5. The tool set features mandoc, based on the libmandoc validating
  6. compiler, to format output for UNIX terminals (with support for
  7. wide-character locales), XHTML, HTML, PostScript, and PDF. It also
  8. includes preconv, for recoding multibyte manuals; demandoc, for
  9. emitting only text parts of manuals; mandocdb, for indexing manuals; and
  10. apropos, whatis, and man.cgi (via catman) for semantic search of manual
  11. content.
  12. This slackbuild will conflict with stock man or man-db packages in a
  13. default Slackware install. They should be removed with removepkg prior
  14. to installing mandoc.
  15. After installing, make sure to (re)create the mandoc specific "whatis"
  16. database(s) in your manpath(s), eg.:
  17. # makewhatis /usr/man /usr/local/man
