  11. Abstract class extended by lightmappers, for use in :ref:`LightmapGI<class_LightmapGI>`.

  13. Description
  14. -----------
  15. This class should be extended by custom lightmapper classes. Lightmappers can then be used with :ref:`LightmapGI<class_LightmapGI>` to provide fast baked global illumination in 3D.
  16. Godot contains a built-in GPU-based lightmapper :ref:`LightmapperRD<class_LightmapperRD>` that uses compute shaders, but custom lightmappers can be implemented by C++ modules.
  17. .. |virtual| replace:: :abbr:`virtual (This method should typically be overridden by the user to have any effect.)`
  18. .. |const| replace:: :abbr:`const (This method has no side effects. It doesn't modify any of the instance's member variables.)`
  19. .. |vararg| replace:: :abbr:`vararg (This method accepts any number of arguments after the ones described here.)`
  20. .. |constructor| replace:: :abbr:`constructor (This method is used to construct a type.)`
  21. .. |static| replace:: :abbr:`static (This method doesn't need an instance to be called, so it can be called directly using the class name.)`
  22. .. |operator| replace:: :abbr:`operator (This method describes a valid operator to use with this type as left-hand operand.)`
  23. .. |bitfield| replace:: :abbr:`BitField (This value is an integer composed as a bitmask of the following flags.)`
  24. .. |void| replace:: :abbr:`void (No return value.)`
