The search https://gnusocial.net/directory/users?q=%402023-08-03%40dev.seppo.social&search=Suchen finds no user.

Hi @aaa, thanks for resqponding. 2 things jump into my eye:

1. gnusocial is confused about it's own search endpoint (GET /search/user?q=2023-08-03%40dev.seppo.social] Could not find a handler for the given path 'search/user'.)
2. gnusocial seems to expect a /.well-known/host-meta (RFC6415) which isn't mentioned in https://www.w3.org/TR/activitystreams-core/ or https://www.w3.org/TR/activitypub nor https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc7033. E.g. Lemmy (https://join-lemmy.org/) doesn't provide it either.

AFAIK RFC6415 explicitly advertises what RFC7033 standardises these days.

Adding the file is 2nd host-wide global requirement besides webfinger. Other applications on the same host may require it differently. I'm hesitant to add that 2nd host-wide global dependency.

Am I correct? Do you intend to keep this requirement?

and RFC6415 brings additional requirements which may some may not be aware of, as e.g. providing webfinger as xml becomes mandatory:

LRDD resources MUST have an "application/xrd+xml" representation, and MAY have others.

The non-2xx/3xx requests go to made up URLs. The activitypub profile URL is in the webfinger response and is different from the html profile page url.
