  7. <p>This month is going to be pretty intense... maybe I should even say
  8. "pretty insane". I'm going to be at three different conferences.
  9. Maybe I'll see you at one?</p>

  12. <b><a href="https://us.pycon.org/2012/">PyCon</a> --</b>
  13. I've been attending PyCon every year since 2008.
  14. As with most years, I'll be on the video crew.
  15. Last year I
  16. <a href="http://blip.tv/pycon-us-videos-2009-2010-2011/pycon-2011-using-blender-s-new-bpy-python-api-4898905">gave
  17. a talk on Blender's Python API</a>
  18. (<a href="http://j23.video2.blip.tv/10810008415300/Pycon-PyCon2011UsingBlendersNewBPYPythonAPI725.ogv">video
  19. here</a>). This year I missed the deadline to give a talk, but I
  20. will be giving a poster session
  21. with <a href="http://eximiousproductions.com/">Deb Nicholson</a>
  22. on <a href="http://mediagoblin.org/">MediaGoblin</a>. (Deb
  23. handles most of our press related stuff, including writing up most
  24. of our blogposts. She does a really great job!)
  25. PyCon is always a fantastic conference, and apparently news of
  26. that has gotten around. This year both the hotel and admission to
  27. PyCon sold out a month in advance. Yow!
  28. </li>
  29. <li>
  30. <b><a href="http://libreplanet.org/wiki/LibrePlanet2012">LibrePlanet</a> --</b>
  31. This year I'll be presenting with Mike Linksvayer about Creative
  32. Commons. I suspect it'll be a fairly wide ranging talk, going
  33. from the <a href="http://wiki.creativecommons.org/4.0">4.0 license
  34. process</a> to bridging Creative Commons and free software.
  35. Unfortunately, I'm attending a wedding on Saturday, so I'll only
  36. be around for Sunday. However I'll be in the Boston area for a
  37. few days afterwards, crashing at Deb Nicholson's place. If you
  38. want to meet up, <a href="/contact/">let me know</a>.
  39. <br />
  40. Not sure if somehow MediaGoblin will tie into this whole thing,
  41. but in a sense it's very pertinent to LP2012 since it started
  42. right after LibrePlanet 2011 (which I didn't attend), is a GNU
  43. project, and I started planning it immediately after LibrePlanet
  44. 2010 when I finished up my work with the FSF
  45. on <a href="http://patentabsurdity.com/">Patent Absurdity</a>
  46. (debuted at LP2010; I did the animations for the film as
  47. <a href="http://dustycloud.org/blog/2010/6/13/patent-absurdity.html">mentioned
  48. previously</a>.
  49. </li>
  50. <li>
  51. <b><a href="http://www.flourishconf.com/2012/">Flourish</a> --</b>
  52. I'll be speaking at Flourish this year on (surprise, surprise)
  53. MediaGoblin. Flourish is a good conference, in Chicago, and
  54. really cheap. In fact, it costs nothing, and if
  55. you <a href="http://www2.flourishconf.com/2012/registration.php">register
  56. in advance</a> you can even get a free (as in t-shirts) shirt.
  57. It's a good "tech and culture of free software" type conference.
  58. </li>
  59. </ul>
  60. <p>
  61. Wow, that's a lot of conferences! And a wedding! Yesterday my
  62. friend <a href="http://bluesock.org/~willg/">Will</a> commented to
  63. Deb (whose life is pretty much nonstop conferences)
  64. "I don't know how you do it. I do a conference and then I have to
  65. hug myself in a dark room for a month to rejuvenate." Too true. I
  66. think after this month is over I'm going to have to
  67. <a href="http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Odo%27s_bucket">reconstruct
  68. myself in a bucket</a> for a day or so.
  69. </p>
