upstream now has ENABLE_CAPTCHA config option but i am not quite clear on what was notabug's original motivation for this

as i understand notabug wanted to disable captchas but i seem to remember someone saying that a alternative was put in it's place or was planned to be put in its place - if this is true then ENABLE_CAPTCHA should probably be true but perhaps a PR should be sent upstream to support alternative captcha libs like an additional key CAPTCHA_TYPE

proposed upstream issue#3340

related to issue #3

There are some blind people using NAB, and their screen readers couldn't get past the CAPTCHAS. In addition to this, Gogs is probably fetching the pictures from Google or some other CDN. We've never had a problem with spam accounts. Well, somebody abused the API once and DDoS'ed NAB, but it happened just once, and it was fixed.

I don't recall any alternative to CAPTCHAS being discussed
