  42. .Os
  43. .Sh NAME
  44. .Nm factor
  45. .Nd factor a number
  46. .Sh SYNOPSIS
  47. .Nm
  48. .Op Ar number ...
  49. .Sh DESCRIPTION
  50. The
  51. .Nm
  52. utility will factor integers between \-2147483648 and 2147483647 inclusive.
  53. When a number is factored, it is printed, followed by a
  54. .Dq \&: ,
  55. and the list of factors on a single line.
  56. Factors are listed in ascending order, and are preceded by a space.
  57. If a factor divides a value more than once, it will be printed more than once.
  58. .Pp
  59. When
  60. .Nm
  61. is invoked with one or more arguments, each argument will be factored.
  62. .Pp
  63. When
  64. .Nm
  65. is invoked with no arguments,
  66. .Nm
  67. reads numbers, one per line, from standard input, until end of file or error.
  68. Leading white-space and empty lines are ignored.
  69. Numbers may be preceded by a single - or +.
  70. Numbers are terminated by a non-digit character (such as a newline).
  71. After a number is read, it is factored.
  72. Input lines must not be longer than 255 characters.
  73. .Sh DIAGNOSTICS
  74. Out of range or invalid input results in
  75. an appropriate error message
  76. being written to standard error.
  77. .Sh BUGS
  78. .Nm
  79. cannot handle the
  80. .Dq 10 most wanted
  81. factor list.
