Progress of the 3.8.0 patch

One issue I did notice on unpatched so far on Arch is that zfgamebrowser doesn't work right on wine-tkg-staging 8.6.1.r4 unless vulkan-1.dll is renamed to .bak but that's about all I've noticed. I can't remember if it also doesn't work on macOS unpatched but I'm guessing probably.

Just want to report that patchless appears to be working immediately with zero modifications to game files. Tested both on Arch Linux and macOS Ventura. Arch install was updated via the official launcher, macOS updated through yaagl with patching completely disabled.

New Unpatched installs on 27/03/23 are functional?

Can confirm that 3.6 is not launching unpatched - game does launch with the typical "rename mhypbase.dll" trick as tested on a trash account.

Logging out after new launch

I tend to have this issue a lot but I notice it seems to happen since I play the game on three different devices: my main desktop PC, a Mac Mini (Intel model running an Arch version meant for T2 Macs) and a Steam Deck. Whenever I switch between the three, it seems like I have to log in again often.

Testing with both patches for about an hour so far on a burner account.

Progress of the 3.2.0 patch

Played for about 8 hours total with both the normal patch and secondary patches applied, no issues to report. Arch Linux, Linux 6.0.6-clear, Wine-TKG 7.20 with DXVK-async 1.10.3. Thanks as always!

Intermittent crashing

I was recommended by someone (forgot who unfortunately, not on here though) to try using [TKG's nightly builds of Wine 7.x](https://github.com/Frogging-Family/wine-tkg-git) to see if that eliminates the issue with crashing. So far after playing for a couple of hours with the latest (as of the time of writing this) nightly build, I've experienced zero crashing. I'll report back if I do experience any crashing related to this but so far, seems like TKG's builds may be the way to go for having an up-to-date wine. Hopefully helps some others out too.

Intermittent crashing

I was the one who submitted #279. I actually ran back into the intermittent crashing on my Steam Deck when using Proton 7.0-3, but changing to Proton 6.3-8 makes the crashing go away (both just the versions available in Steam, no custom builds).

Client leaks potentially sensitive stuff in one of telemetry packets

I imagine it does. I'm using Lutris on Debian which has winevulkan in its system32 folder (pretty sure all versions of Wine on Lutris will).

Just my two cents here but I almost want to say that it's guaranteed that it's been at least noticed (@r4m0n's comment). I feel like they wouldn't just add something like this and leave it alone. It really boils down to whether they're interested in chasing after it or not. Considering 1.5 was a year ago and nobody's been reported to have been banned simply for playing the game via Wine, it might be safe to assume they're not interested for now (and hopefully that doesn't change) and would rather chase after those actually cheating vs. those just trying to play the game as intended on a different OS.

Game crashing seemingly at random on 2.5

I honestly haven't experienced any further crashing, even with later wine versions. I've put nearly 40 hours in total with zero crashing.

Game crashing seemingly at random on 2.5

Yesterday I had the game running for about 6 hours and didn't experience a single crash. Did dailies in co-op, explored the chasm some more in singleplayer. There was one time that my server connection timed out but I don't think it was related to anything and I was able to log right back in and continue playing.

@loentar which DXVK version are you using? I hear that 1.10.1 is a bit buggy in general (not just with GI) so I'd downgrade if you're on that version.

Have had the game up for about an hour total now, seems to be working fine. Debian 11 with Liquorix kernel 5.16.0-18.1, wine-lutris-ge 6.21-1, DXVK 1.10L, using Mesa 20.3.5 on a Radeon VII. Will report if I run into any further issues (that aren't already related to #279). Thanks for the patch!

I think I'm gonna try out 2.6 with an even older version of wine (6.21, lutris-ge variant) since I see reports of the game running well using 6.x. I haven't tried 2.6 yet but if the crashing stops on this version of wine, I'll try going back to 7.x and see if it starts crashing again.

@kumik out of curiosity I saw your note on #273, did the crashing stop for you? I haven't tested 2.6 yet myself.

I'm perfectly fine testing whatever out if you need me to - it's the least I can do for this project letting me spend hundreds of hours in this game in my OS of choice :P
